BEIJING, Sept. 26 (Xinhua) — A senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC) on Wednesday called on the country’s legal professionals to make innovative contributions to building a socialist country under the rule of law.

Legal workers should learn from the people and from practices and go deep among the public, Zhou Yongkang, a Standing Committee member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, said at a conference marking the 30th anniversary of the reconstruction of the China Law Society.

They should actively participate in legislation, reform of the legal system, legal education and publicity as well as legal assistance, Zhou said, while encouraging them to learn from foreign counterparts.
