Library Manager
This is a contract full-time role of up to 12 months (with possibility of extension)

About the role:
The Library Manager plays a key role in the design and delivery of the LIV Library’s strategic plan, resources, support and services for LIV members, legal practitioners, LIV staff and the community, with a focus on leading a team of experienced Law Librarians and delivering a high-quality member and user experience.
The Library Manager is responsible for providing leadership and direction to a team of library professionals who are responsible for overseeing relevant services and activities across the LIV Library.
This role provides an exciting challenge for an experienced professional to develop and implement a strategic plan that is aligned with the LIV vision and purpose and to oversee library and other learning resources and services, with a focus on the changing needs of practitioners and taking advantage of the opportunities presented by digital resources and platforms.
This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the critical support and resources to the Victorian legal profession and the broader community.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Development of LIV Library Strategic Plan, ensuring it is aligned with LIV Strategic and Divisional Plans
- Build and maintain effective relationships with all library stakeholders, including LIV members, Victorian practitioners, Universities and Publishers.
- Lead, develop and manage the performance of the Library team and create and promote a collaborative and positive team environment;
- Review and maintain the LIV Library Collection Policies to ensure the LIV Library delivers a high-quality, relevant and up to date collection for all members and users
- Researching emerging trends in the Library sector, implementing new library model concepts and managing resource requirements accordingly
To be considered for this role, you will demonstrate:
- 3 to 5 years of relevant managerial level experience (preferably managing a Law library)
- Strong leadership skills with excellent interpersonal skills including listening and oral communication
- Ability to create connections and engage individuals and other institutions and manage these and other key stakeholder relationships to encourage an exchange of ideas and information.
- Experience in problem solving to deliver a high-quality member and user experience
- Strong IT literacy to adapt library systems for an alternative source of knowledge and effectively utilise a digital environment
- High level of understanding of processes and systems and the ability to explore opportunities for efficiencies across the business.
- Ability to keep up to date with the latest practices in library management and the industry, including emerging trends
Desirable:
- Knowledge of membership organisations and engagement strategies.
Qualifications:
- Tertiary qualifications in Library Information Management
