The Library Services Team is seeking expressions of interest from librarians with significant experience in legal research and training. The Librarian will be responsible for providing training to lawyers, conducting legal research, and assisting with collection management.

About the role
The Library Services Team provides a highly valued service for legal research and resources to the lawyers and officers across the whole of the Attorney-General’s Department. This role is based in Canberra and will involve delivering high level, customer focused library services to AGS and department clients. A key part of this role will be to design, manage and deliver a national training program and undertake a broad range of library activities as part of a team. You will also be expected to efficiently and comprehensively manage reference enquiries in response to client requests. You may be responsible for managing a specific library function and/or national and local projects.
In this role you will:
- provide a highly valued service to Canberra AGS and the department, and support the national AGD library network
- draw upon your extensive law librarian knowledge and skills to deliver excellent customer focused library services to AGS and department clients
- design, manage and deliver a national legal research training program to support client requirements
- manage reference enquiries in response to client requests in a timely manner
- undertake a broad range of library activities as part of a small, dedicated and professional team.

About you
Candidates for this position should have:
- relevant tertiary qualifications in library studies / information management
- formal training qualifications or significant training experience
- demonstrated ability to undertake high level reference and research work in a legal environment
- excellent knowledge of legal materials, maintaining collections and their data
- demonstrated ability in the use of:
- legal resources
- the delivery of in-person and remote training
- library technology and
- data management
- a willingness to take responsibility for tasks, a team oriented attitude and a collaborative approach to cross-team development
- well-developed written and oral communication skills.
