Business Analyst ( IS )

Product Owner

Professional role that provides expertise in the implementation of business plans and the achievement of unit objectives through needs discovery, relationship management, communication, elicitation and development of user stories.

Key roles and responsibilities:

  1. Work with the product owner to translate business needs into user stories that will be used to develop market driven features in a timely manner.
  2. Drive feature definition and planning in coordination with the SCRUM team and product owner.
  3. Collaborate with various internal and external stakeholders to help design and drive the product backlog for both the short and long-term.
  4. Clearly understands defined business strategies in the areas of Sales, Marketing and Product Management. Facilitate clarification if not fully defined.
  5. Partner with key stakeholders to determine release goals and scope definition.
  6. Document user stories and detailed acceptance criteria.
  7. Collaborate with the design team to ensure effective user interface form and behavior specifications.
  8. Work closely with the SCRUM team to determine accurate estimations of effort and ensure proper execution on user stories through user acceptance testing.
  9. Work closely with the Program Manager to generate release plans.
  10. Act as customer advocate and expert at understanding the customers’ needs through participation in both market and user feedback sessions.
  11. Clearly understands the scope and objectives of the program.
  12. Be an internal product evangelist and a sought after product expert.

Qualifications:

  1. Position requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent business analysis experience. Computer Science degree a plus.
  2. Position requires at least 3 years working in a commercial software development environment. Previous experience with SCRUM a plus.
  3. Ability to learn products quickly and become a sought after subject matter expert.
  4. Strong track record of research and technical analysis skills; including the ability to effectively review, analyze and translate business needs into user stories.
  5. Proven ability to engage developers to ensure understanding of technological constraints while creating a vision of project success that drives engagement.
  6. Excellent organizational skills and proven analytical, methodical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills.
  7. Energetic and self-motivated with strong interpersonal, persuasion, and facilitation skills with people of different levels, backgrounds, and personality styles.
  8. Ability and desire to work in a highly demanding team environment.
  9. Willingness to work extremely hard to meet aggressive customer-driven deadlines.
  10. Great attitude and commitment to excellence.
  11. Passion for customer satisfaction and relationship development.
  12. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
