We learn from the LN Linked in network that their employee referral bonus has been increased to $1000 per hired referral….
The message posted by their (who thinks up these titles) Talent Aquisition Specialist prompted a couple of quite interesting responses from other LN staff on the network.
One commented
Seriously? In this job market where everyone needs a job? And with the news we just got about merit increases? and another responds
Yes, this seems a bit at odds with most areas of the business.
And the response from the Talent Aquisition Specialist, we agree, does make sense.
True but the referral fee actually comes from each individual business units expense center. It has been a $1000 referral fee since the beginning of the year but just wasn’t widely announced.
But if you think about how much money it saves us to hire a referral verses using an agency for hard to fill positions, we are acutally saving the company thousands of dollars. Sales positions are typically the hardest to fill and have the most impact on revenue and therefore hiring a referral is very beneficial. But also good for other parts of the company as well. Referrals are far more reliable if they are truly the right fit.
But it does have to be said that if there has been a company wide pay freeze these are the sort of issues that LN (like all other companies) will have to work through very carefully so as not to alienate the majority of staff.
