We are currently recruiting for a Senior Editor to join our Primary Law digests team (the All England Reporter) to cover assigned courts in an efficient manner and prepare case digests to a high standard.

Fixed Term contract until end of 2018

LexisNexis Law Reporters are on the cutting edge of the law, and provide LexisNexis with accurate and timely summaries of the daily business of tribunals, the High Court, the Court of Appeal, the Supreme Court, and the European courts which feed into our prestigious online and hardcopy publications such as the All England Law Reports.

Key Result Areas:

  • Drafting clear and concise case digests that accurately reflect the judgment of the court, within agreed timescales
  • Editing digests written by peers to agreed standards, and providing feedback to colleagues on their work
  • Uploading judgments including adding relevant taxonomy terms
  • Monitoring relevant websites regularly with a view to updating judgment database
  • Prioritising judgments for digesting, based on legal importance and customer need
  • Where appropriate, taking notes of ex tempore judgments in order to produce digests of those judgments
  • Providing a point of contact with courts, judges and practitioners
  • Approving headnotes for the All England Law Reports and other law reports titles, as required.

Qualifications and Key Requirements

  • Barrister or qualified solicitor
  • Ability to analyse judgments
  • Writing skills, with the ability to summarise complicated material in a concise and precise manner
  • A keen eye for detail to maintain the quality of the product
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Ability to prioritise, juggling competing demands efficiently
  • Computer literacy

Desirable Skills we’re looking for

  • Experience of law reporting/legal publishing
  • Experience with an XML-based Content Management System
