ProQuest has appointed information industry professional Michael Gersch as their new? senior vice president and general manager of business unit Serials Solutions, the provider digital discovery tools and integrated management solutions to libraries

The press release tells us that Gersch will take the role of Rob Mercer, who is to lead Serials Solutions? worldwide sales effort as vice-president, global sales.
With this appointment, Gersch has become part of ProQuest?s senior executive team and will report to company chief executive Marty Kahn.
Kahn said: ?Serials Solutions has experienced growth through innovative services such as Summon and I feel confident that Michael ? with his ideal mix of experience as a general manager and in finance and strategic planning positions ? is going to take the business to the next level.?
Gersch joins Serials Solutions from LexisNexis, where he has held various roles for eight years. In his last role, he was vice-president and managing director, Litigation Solutions and was responsible for managing the division of both high-growth and mature business units.
He has also held responsibilities such as such as vice president and general manager of Case Assessment and Discovery and CourtLink at LexisNexis.
Prior to LexisNexis, he was vice president, finance and strategic planning, at Washington-based Advanced Radio Telecom, an early stage fixed wireless telecommunications company that provided broadband data and voice services to the carrier and enterprise market.
