Lexis Nexis: Promotions..Musical Chairs

Lexis Company officials have told the  Dayton Business Journal that Sean Fitzpatrick, managing director of North American research solutions, is the new site leader for the company’s Miami Valley operations, succeeding Alex Watson in that role. Watson has been named chief operating officer for LexisNexis.

Officials said the company rotates its local site lead about every three years. Locally, the company maintains a head count of about 3,000 employees.

Fitzpatrick is responsible for the U.S. research business, including information resources and insights, aimed primarily at law firms, corporations and governments. He also oversees the company’s Canadian operations. Having joined LexisNexis in 2005, he has moved up the ranks in the company’s research and litigation-focused business lines.

With an MBA from University of Michigan, Fitzpatrick had been a consultant at McKinsey & Co. and also a senior manager at a major accounting firm before joining the company.

Watson has been executive vice president of global operations at LexisNexis since 2011 and this year has added the COO title. He first joined the company in 2008 as senior vice president, strategy for global operations. Company information showed he splits his time between Dayton and New York City offices.

The Miamisburg office is a major footprint for the company, which provides legal and business research and risk management services. It has 15,000 employees across the globe and serves customers in 175 countries, according to its Web site.

LexisNexis has two divisions: Legal & Professional, which employs thousands in the Dayton region; and LexisNexis Risk Solutions, which is headquartered in Georgia. LexisNexis is one of the largest local employers. The top operations for LexisNexis are in New York.

The company is owned by London-based RELX group, previously known as Reed Elsevier and Reed Elsevier Group.
