The company bought the Crash and Project business of public safety business Apriss. This technology provides an collection of crash reports and electronic citations. LexisNexis says it will integrate the technology into its Coplogic portfolio, an incident reporting suite used by law enforcement customers.

“With the acquisition of the Crash and Project business group, Coplogic Solutions will improve its ability to address the growing need for the efficient collection of crash and citation information,” said Roy Marler, vice president and general manager for Coplogic Solutions in the company. “By better utilizing time and resources, law enforcement agencies can pursue other, high priority public safety activities that meet the needs of our communities.”

The product will also make crash reporting more efficient and accurate for insurance companies, in the end meaning they will be better able to serve customers, it said. The Coplogic products in turn will help law enforcement collect more information at the scene of a crash.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Sixty-six employees in Martinsville, Ind. and Louisville, Ky. will join LexisNexis through the acquisition. Their customer base includes 3,500 law enforcement agencies in 38 states, including the Los Angeles Police Department and police in Norfolk and Miami.
