Ogletree Deakins has the opportunity for a Legal Researcher (Law Librarian) to join the firm’s expanding Knowledge Management Department. This position may sit in either our Denver, CO, Portland, OR, Phoenix, AZ, or our Las Vegas, NV office. Under supervision and in a team environment the Legal Researcher will perform legal and business research to support the firm needs, and assist users in the selection and use of print and electronic research tools.
Essential Functions:
Provides research services for the firm’s attorneys and staff including quick reference and in-depth research on legal issues, litigation, and business and corporate information.
Proficient in research using Lexis Advance, Westlaw, BNA, CCH, PACER, and other electronic resources.
Performs union, judge, arbitrator, mediator, and traditional labor research, using internal and external specialty databases.
Uses resources in compliance with firm policies.
Evaluates research results and creates value-added research products including executive summaries and special reports.
Assists users in the selection and use of print and electronic research tools, and provide training including cost-effective research techniques.
Monitors online databases and other resources for practice-specific information.
Accurately records billable and non-billable research time, in accordance with firm policy.
Participates in professional development through internal and external training and involvement in professional associations.
Requirements:
MLS or equivalent.
1+ years of professional law firm library or equivalent experience or 5+ years paraprofessional law library experience.
Proficiency in use of Westlaw, Lexis, BNA, CCH, Hein, Hoovers, Monitor Suite, Accurint, TLO, SMI, and other library research resources.
Proficiency in Microsoft applications including but not limited to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote, and Document Management System.
