We are currently seeking applications for a Legal Librarian within the Scottish Government Legal Directorate based in Victoria Quay, Edinburgh. This is a permanent and pensionable appointment and new entrants will normally start on the minimum of the pay range. Candidates with a disability who meet the essential criteria below will be invited to the assessments.
The successful candidate will join The Solicitors’ Legal Information Centre (SLIC) in the Business Division, which is responsible for corporate governance, directorate strategy and delivery of a range of support services. It comprises the following branches: SLIC; Scottish Statutory Instrument Unit; Finance team, the Legal Modernisation Unit and the Resourcing team.
Qualifications Required
For jobs in Band B and C you must hold a minimum of 3 highers or equivalent.

Essential Criteria
1. An approved degree in Librarianship/Information Science (or postgraduate qualification in same). Applications from candidates without an approved degree in librarianship/information science, but with experience in library work and chartership or willingness to work toward chartership with CILIP will also be considered.
2. Experience of work in a library or information service environment (experience of legal library work would be advantageous).
3. Excellent organisational and time management skills with ability to balance competing priorities.
4. Good interpersonal, networking and team-working skills with the ability to engage confidently with colleagues/stakeholders at all levels (experience of managing or supervising others would be advantageous).
