Legal Librarian
Professionals Library Service, Inc. has an outstanding 39 year reputation servicing libraries in the
Chicago legal and business community. Our clients are located in the downtown Chicago area.
We are currently seeking a librarian who has the acute attention to detail required for library work, combined with flexibility and customer service skills necessary to service our professional clients.
This position is an excellent opportunity for an individual who has at least 1-2 years of experience working in a law library environment, and who is excited by the challenge of learning a variety of different projects in different settings.
Initially, the position will be a combination of remote and onsite duties. The location will depend on the policies of our individual clients. Remote and onsite duties will be subject to change based on both the current situation, and our clients’ requirements and protocols. We are looking for a flexible candidate who is motivated to perform successfully in both environments.
Requirements
Our ideal candidate must be a self-motivated and hard-working individual who can work well independently, as well as manage multiple tasks under time constraints.
The position requires good organizational and time management skills.
Must have the ability to interact professionally with our clients in a business setting.
Potential duties include ready reference, legal and business research, collection development, collection maintenance, serials maintenance, basic cataloging, some clerical and administrative work.
Knowledge of Westlaw, Lexis, Bloomberg BNA, WK Cheetah and Microsoft Excel preferred.
Ability to learn and use a variety of online research programs essential.
Qualifications
Master of Library and Information Science Degree or commensurate experience.
Minimum one year of recent experience with legal or business research.
