Ireland – The Chief State Solicitor’s Office (CSSO): Legal Knowledge Manager

The Chief State Solicitor’s Office (CSSO) provides litigation, advisory and conveyancing services to Government Departments and Offices and to certain other State agencies.

A priority area for the CSSO is the development of effective processes and systems for the management and sharing of knowledge.

The Legal Knowledge Manager is a senior management position providing strategic leadership in the design and implementation of the Office’s Knowledge Management Strategy, the development of legal research capabilities, and fostering and promoting a knowledge-sharing culture across the CSSO.

Reporting to the Assistant Chief State Solicitor, the Legal Knowledge Manager will drive the development of the Office’s systems and processes for knowledge management and knowledge-sharing. They will also play a key role in assisting the Office in the delivery of its mission to provide the highest standard of professional legal services to the Government, Departments and Offices as economically and efficiently as possible and to support adherence to the rule of law.

The successful candidate must have a primary honours degree in law or an honours primary degree in another discipline plus a post-graduate qualification in law or a professional qualification in Library/Information Studies accredited by the LAI or CILIP.

They will also have a minimum of five years’ post-qualification experience working in a complex legal environment, preferably with a significant knowledge-management component to the role and a proven track record in the development or implementation of strategies and solutions for the management and sharing of legal knowledge.
