Full Job Description
The New York State Bar Association, a non-profit professional organization based in Albany, NY, is seeking a Legal Editor and Content Developer. This individual will work closely with the Director of Acquisitions and Publications to oversee the development and preparation of attorney reference books and form products, from the initial planning stages and author outreach to the product launch phase. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented; have excellent legal research, editing, and proofreading skills; and an in-depth understanding of the technical and research needs of practicing attorneys, particularly in New York. This position also requires excellent oral and written communication skills; strong organizational skills and experience managing multiple projects; a thorough understanding of Bluebook style; and demonstrated success at working independently as well as with a team.
The successful candidate will have at least five years of publishing experience with an emphasis on developing and editing content for legal practitioners in print and online; strong technological proficiency; and a thorough understanding of the Microsoft Office Suite, the LexisNexis or Westlaw platforms, and ebook publishing. Experience with HotDocs automated forms, Adobe Framemaker, XML/HTML, and content management systems is a plus. Some travel is required.
