My client’s business is the exploration, production, refining, trading and distribution of energy. They are now looking for Legal Counsel for their Lubricants Asia & Pacific business to proactively manage the legal needs of the business.

Key accountabilities

Reporting to the Lubricants Managing Attorney, this role will be based in Singapore and will be a key advisor to the Asia & Pacific Lubricants Leadership Team.? You will be responsible for recruiting, leading and developing lawyers and support staff for the Asia & Pacific Lubricants business.

Responsibilities will include:

? Provide strategic, commercially focussed legal advice to the Asia & Pacific Lubricants Leadership Team on key legal issues

? Develop strong working relationships with the Asia & Pacific Lubricants Leadership Team and the respective teams reporting to the members of that Leadership Team,

? Provide strategic legal advice and management counsel to key decision makers in Asia & Pacific and proactively manage disputes to constructive resolution; managing litigation, and providing day to day legal advice to clients across the business

? Develop strong working relationships with clients beyond active legal matters

? Lead, coach and drive forward the personal and professional development of the Lubricants Asia & Pacific Legal team, be accountable for the team?s legal advice and the advice provided by specialist lawyers on all relevant legal issues affecting the Asia & Pacific business.

? Work closely with the globally matrixed Senior Legal Managers, Global Supply Chain and Global Marketing to enable local implementation of their initiatives to drive consistently high quality standards across the team, to develop common standards and processes that enable and efficient and effective service provision by the Global Lubes Legal Team.

? Select, instruct and manage suitable external legal counsel

? Sound competition/antitrust law knowledge and experience in leading compliance programmes

? International distribution and agency agreements

? Significant client counselling, negotiation experience and highly developed influencing skills

? A proven record of commercial awareness with high-quality contribution to business strategy and delivery

? Proven track record as an effective and passionate team player within high performing cross-functional teams

? Excellent communication and analytical skills in both written and spoken English

? The ability to self-motivate and motivate others to deliver under pressure
