Law Society of Kenya Cautions Members Over Ngong Road Forest After Lawyer Attacked

The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) has cautioned its members to exercise extra vigilance while going about their daily activities at the Ngong Road Forest.

This is after one of their members was attacked in the forest while jogging. In a notice by the Society’s Chief Executive Officer Florence Muturi, the lawyer was attacked while on a run and was hit by a panga to the head.

“Unfortunately, on Sunday, December 15, 2024, an advocate who was out for a run at the Ngong Road Forest was attacked and sustained a serious head injury from a panga-wielding assailant,” the CEO stated.

The lawyer sustained injuries but received medical attention and is out of danger. The CEO revealed that he is still receiving treatment.

The society acknowledged the state of security in the country pointing out an incident that took place two months ago along the same Ngong Road Forest that saw several runners and nature enthusiasts attacked.

Among the prevalent crimes include robbery with violence, rape, stabbings, and assaults.

Following these security concerns, LSK has advised its members to exercise caution whenever they go anywhere.

“Given these developments, we kindly urge all our members to exercise vigilance and adopt necessary precautionary measures at all times,” the notice to members continued.

In 2024, Kenya witnessed an unprecedented wave of abductions,  killings, and insecurity cases.
