Law Reference Librarian Capital University Columbus, OH

Capital University Law Library is in the midst of a major transition as it transforms to a 21st Century Law Library. The Law Library’s Mission, Vision and Values have recently been revisited, and its latest Collection Development Plan was recently approved. Reporting to the Director of Law Library, the Law Reference Librarian will join a dynamic and visionary team of professionals, and will specifically focus on providing high quality and timely legal research services, including reference services, non-credit bearing research instruction, interlibrary loan assistance, and answering basic research questions. In addition to general reference services, the Law Reference Librarian will work collaboratively with other library staff members on collection development, event programming, and Lexis and Westlaw vendor representative coordination. The Law Reference Librarian serve the evening and weekend needs of the law school faculty, staff, and students, as well as the paralegal program.

Responsibilities:
Provide reference services to faculty, staff, students, and local attorneys who visit the library.
Assist patrons with law school and OhioLink information resources.
Develop legal research training programs for in-class and external presentations and pre-recorded video tutorials.
Create legal bibliographic research materials.
Coordinate evening training sessions with vendors, such as the Lexis+ and Westlaw Edge representatives.
Assist with interlibrary loan requests.
Participate in joint activities, including collection development, library programming, student outreach, TWEN administration, faculty outreach, and CLE events.
Become an active member of the Capital Law community through committee work, creating good faculty and student professional relationships, and participation in law school events.

Qualifications:
JD from an ABA accredited institution and Master of Library Science. Applicants who are currently enrolled in and actively taking classes in one of these program and will finish no later than the second anniversary of the applicant’s hiring date will be considered.
Experience required: 0 2 years
Ability and willingness to work four (4) evenings and one (1) weekday (specific days of the week may be negotiable)
Excellent skills in Professional written and verbal communication, customer service, and diplomacy.
Must be able to work both as a team and independently
Strong skills in MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and some knowledge of MS Excel
Excellent skills and knowledge of or willingness to learn Lexis+, Westlaw Edge, HeinOnline, Cheeetah, RIA Checkpoint, OhioLink databases, and similar databases.
Experience with OhioLink, Sierra ILS, Libguides, Camtasia, and Photoshop a plus.
