Law Librarian New York State Senate Albany, NY

The New York State Senate is looking to hire a Law Librarian to work in the NYS Legislative Library. The classification for this position is Management/Confidential. The NYS Senate will accept applications until the position is filled.

DUTIES

Provide professional library services by performing legislative reference work, original cataloging, and classifying materials using the Library’s Integrated Library System (ILS) software. Provide legal research assistance to legislators and staff. Manage electronic information including databases, the ILS, and other information sources. Familiarity with WestLaw, LexisNexis, and Hein Online preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS

Master’s degree in Library Science or Library Information Science from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited college or university. Experience in a law library or library information center with a significant legal collection preferred. Law degree from an accredited law school desirable, but not mandatory.
