Law Librarian Honigman LLP Detroit

The Law Librarian will be responsible for providing reference and research services to attorneys, paralegals, summer associates, other professionals and team members of Honigman LLP. The team member supports the firm’s excellence in service delivery and quality, and continues to support the efficiency and effectiveness of our lawyers.

RESPONSIBILITIES

· Performs library research services including current awareness in legal, business, and other disciplines utilizing print and electronic resources for firm and client matters.

· Conducts in-person and remote training programs for large and small groups. Trains and orients newly hired attorneys and other professional team members in assigned offices to the services and resources offered in the Information Services department. Provides needs-based and planned training to attorneys and team members and arranges vendor training as needed.

· Keeps abreast of new technologies and specialized information resources; and works with attorneys and staff in obtaining required information.

· Assists with administration of computer-aided legal research systems and non-legal informational databases.

· Participate in the identification and review, trial/pilot, and marketing of research products to firm stakeholders.

· Use project management and planning skills to prioritize competitive assignments and consistently meet tight deadlines.

· Maintains positive contact with attorneys and staff and observes confidentiality of client and firm matters at all times.

QUALIFICATIONS

· Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science or J.D., with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a law library.

· An understanding of the legal market and business landscape preferred, in particular a familiarity with emerging technologies and an appreciation for the changing role of research and legal information in the digital age;

· Knowledge and search experience on a range of legal and business research databases and resources, their functionality and content.

· Progressively responsible work experience with legal or other professional service organization in order to gain knowledge of legal resources, legal research, and law library procedures.

· Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills in order to communicate with a diverse group of attorneys and staff and provide information with courtesy and tact.
