The Georgia State College of Law Legal Analytics & Innovation Initiative is excited to welcome two new hires: Michelle Hook Dewey and Dan Quiggin. Both hires will allow LAII to expand its curricular offerings and empirical faculty support in legal analytics, legal innovation, and quantitative methods.
Michelle Hook Dewey
Michelle Hook Dewey – Legal Technologies Librarian, Legal Analytics & Innovation Initiative
Prior to joining Georgia State University College of Law in 2022, Michelle Hook Dewey worked in a variety of legal practice and legal education settings. Most notably, she spent five years as the legal research services manager for an Am. Law 100 firm, where she managed the firm’s national research team. In conjunction with the firm’s innovation group, Dewey and her research team served as content matter experts on a host of firm-led data management, data integration, and technology projects. Throughout her career, she has focused her scholarship and teaching on online legal instruction, hybrid law classes, legal practice technology, and innovation.
Professor Dewey is enthusiastic about merging her pedagogical and technological backgrounds in this new role and looks forward to being a part of the growth and continued development of the Legal Analytics & Innovation Initiative at Georgia State College of Law. Professor Dewey will be teaching the new Legal Process Engineering course, which is offered as a capstone course option for LAII students.
Dan Quiggin – Data & Analytics Services Professional, Legal Analytics & Innovation Initiative
Dan Quiggin joins us from the Georgia State University Robinson College of Business, where he taught classes in managerial economics and statistical analysis. He received his undergraduate degree in economics (with a concentration in quantitative methods) from the University of Queensland in his native country Australia. He holds a Ph.D. in risk management and insurance from the Robinson College of Business. Quiggin has a passion for making statistical analysis accessible to people without extensive statistical training. His work with LAII will focus on teaching legal analytics and statistical methods and providing statistical and quantitative support to the College of Law faculty.
