Travers Smith has launched an AI Academy. The internal training programme is open to the entire firm. It will feature mandatory modules and leverage the firm’s expertise in the hope of embedding a ‘deeper understanding of how AI can be used to enhance client engagement, increase productivity and boost efficiencies’.
Spearheaded by Head of Knowledge Management, Emily Tearle, the programme has been devised in collaboration with stakeholders across the business including Technology, Risk & Compliance, Legal Transformation, and Knowledge.
The AI Academy is made up of four modules: Get Set (foundational resources), Ignite (core mandatory training required for all), Accelerate (further training, both on prompting and the legal and regulatory implications) and Boost (an ongoing module as AI continues to develop).
The programme will ensure both its lawyers and business services teams remain AI literate as it continues to evolve and will feature a series of in-depth live sessions, supported by an extensive collection of reference materials, including bite-size learning videos and further reading resources, they said.
The firm added that this new move is part of a wider tech strategy, that has included:
• Launch of Jylo – investment in Jylo, a ground-breaking AI company.
• Launching Analyse – a user interface which enables chatbot functionality to be more scalable, supporting volume-based work like discovery and diligence.
• Launching and open sourcing, YCNBot, in collaboration with 273 Ventures, allowing organisations to deploy ChatGPT, and its underlying capability, in a safer way, free of cost.
• Launching and open-sourcing Etatonna, the first legal industry data labelling AI platform, which labels concepts in contracts for the purpose of automated document review.
Travers Smith’s Managing Partner, Edmund Reed, commented: ‘Artificial Intelligence continues to impact the legal industry and to be a critical subject for us and our clients which is why we have decided now is the time to build this comprehensive Academy for everyone at Travers Smith. I am thrilled to see the firm elevate its market-leading knowledge and expertise to new heights.’
