Kylie Jenner is going to have a huge legal issue with her newfound success of ‘Rise and Shine,’ because a businesswoman and single mother in New Jersey already owns a trademark for the catchphrase.
A video of Kylie went viral after she belted out the catchphrase ‘Rise and Shine’ to her sleeping daughter, Stormi. In the aftermath, the hashtag #riseandshine became the fastest ever to hit a billion views on the TikTok.
Kylie capitalized on the phrase by launching two “rise and shine” hoodies on her website that sold out almost instantly.
The Single Mom, And Her Trademark
But, a New Jersey businesswoman and single mom, Cathy Beggan has now come forward, saying she is the rightful owner of a trademark for the catchphrase.
Beggan’s issue, she tells us, is that Kylie is already using the phrase, “without the legal license or permission to do so and without any offer of compensation.”
“I’ve spent years developing this product line and the Rise-N-Shinebrand,” Beggan says.
