Newly created role! A global US law firm requires a Knowledge Research Advisor to join their global knowledge team whose goal is to increase value to the Firm’s clients by providing lawyers with simple access to information, experience, and data, enabling lawyers to work more efficiently, and ensuring quality and consistency of work product. The position is responsible for managing, developing, and maintaining the firm’s knowledge systems whilst supporting and strengthening a knowledge-sharing culture through their efforts. There will also be an emphasis on new legal technology and knowledge projects.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Manage, enhance and maintain the firm’s knowledge, predominantly through systems, but also through workflows, behaviour, and culture.
  • Support knowledge products and new and current technology regarding automation, workflows, matter management, client collaboration, document management, and enterprise search.
  • Develop, encourage and support knowledge sharing behavior across groups and teams by attending team meetings, helping users, and advising on best practices for system use.
  • Work with lawyers and other key stakeholders to understand their critical knowledge and data requirements and be able to provide appropriate solutions.
  • Work with various teams to develop knowledge solutions when needed, internally and externally.
  • Advise and present to key stakeholders on knowledge systems and solutions.
  • Identify and scope projects to meet firmwide needs, including steering these to a high level of quality and satisfaction.
  • Participate in wider Client Value team projects.
  • Provide global support for all relevant products such as the enterprise search, experience manager, and client collaboration platform.
  • Provide insightful feedback regarding system and workflow improvements and developments.
  • Provide standard and customised knowledge for client work.
  • Support onboarding efforts of new attorneys and staff.
  • Liaise with external vendors.
  • Act as an ambassador for the team and a champion for process improvement throughout the firm.

To be considered for this role you will need the following skills and experience:

  • 3 years of relevant experience, preferably within a law firm or professional services organisation.
  • Significant knowledge or data management experience within the legal or professional services environment.
  • Basic knowledge of practices and emerging developments/trends in legal data management.
  • Ability to communicate complex issues with clarity.
  • Prioritise workload and handle pressure, interruptions, and multiple concurrent projects.
  • Flexible attitude towards working practices and ability to adapt style as required.
  • Experience or knowledge of technology projects involving large teams.
  • Experience working with people of varying levels of seniority and technical expertise.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with a multiple global stakeholders quickly.
  • Ability to listen, understand and respond to issues in a timely manner.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment; resilient and calm under pressure.
  • Highly motivated with can-do approach.
  • An understanding of databases and classification principles.
  • Proficiency with applications including Microsoft Outlook, Word, EXCEL, and SharePoint.
  • Collaborative and team-oriented with a strong sense of collective responsibility.
