Kluwer Now Employing Language of Lexis & West – God Help Us!

I suppose we shouldn’t be surprised it’s  been coming for a number of years as the company’s aggressive growth strategy in the US has begun to pay off.

Semantics has never been a strong point of the sales and marketing side of the legal publishing market. But, we’ve always been fond of kluwer, because being Dutch, they tended to be straight talkers and the obfuscation of language was never their strong point and we’ve loved them for it, and dearly too.

Sadly though, those days are receding into the past as corporate speak takes over.

Here’s a press release about their US marketing bod appearing at some do and we get guff like this…..

With deep digital expertise, exceptional technical and business proficiency, Cohen is focused on expanding opportunities at Wolters Kluwer through the enablement of a customer-driven digital strategy while empowering the go-to-market efforts of the organization

Arrrrgggggh.. enough already

Read the rest of the press release to learn how amazing he is, their marketing is and so on and so forth. Of course the subtext to all of this is.. expect prices to start rising. In over 30 years in legal publishing, we know one thing for sure. If the marketing dudes are off on junkets like this telling everybody how clever they are your prices will be going up.

Why they then have to tell everybody about it is beyond us.

Here’s the press release if you want to know how marvelous it all is at Kluwer these days.

Louis Cohen, Chief Marketing Officer and Vice President of Marketing and Digital Engagement for Wolters Kluwer Legal & Regulatory U.S. will discuss the future of marketing at Conductor’s C3 conference at New World Stage in New York City on Thursday, March 8.

I am pleased to join fellow industry leaders at the C3 Conference to discuss the future of marketing.”
