Klamath County Library Assistant III Part – Time Law Library

Performs library duties in the maintenance of the County Law Library Branch; performs computerized legal reference work; assists the public and attorneys in utilizing the resources available.

  • OVERVIEW OF THE POSITION –

Performs library duties in the maintenance of the County Law Library Branch; performs computerized legal reference work; assists the public and attorneys in utilizing the resources available.

  • RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES –

01 DUTIES (NOT IN PRIORITY ORDER)

01 Collection Maintenance: File updates and loose leafs, replace pocket parts; shelve supplements and new acquisitions; reshelve books, maintain order of books on shelves, reshelve materials left on tables and desks.

02 Reference Assistance: Assist attorneys, litigants and the public with legal research and reference.

03 General Office Maintenance: Maintain computers, copy machine, fax machine, laser printers and telephone; ensure machines are operational, refill paper and replace toner cartridges; maintain stock of office supplies and order new supplies.

04 Maintain and compile patron usage statistics.

05 Compile attorney user charges for copy fees, bill and collect fees.

06 Enforce Law Library policies and procedures; open and close Law Library according to procedure.

07 Process mail, both outgoing and incoming.

08 Family Law forms; download, print and compile in packets for sale to the public.

09 Attend library full staff meetings.

10 Prepare, report on, and deliver cash deposits.

  • COMPENSATION –

STATUS: Non-Exempt CLASS/GROUP: Non-Union

PAY TYPE: Hourly SALARY/GRADE: UH10 $11.15 – $12.16

  • WORK SCHEDULE –

The normal work schedule is 19 hours per week; exact schedules are assigned by management. It is the attendance standard of the employer that all employees be present and on time each shift they are scheduled to work. Full or partial absence during any scheduled shift, arriving late, or leaving early, for whatever reason, may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment. Time off may be approved if allowed by applicable policies covering illness, injury, or other personal emergency.

  • OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATES/LICENSES –

01 Current Oregon Driver’s License.

  • EDUCATIONAL/VOCATIONAL PREPARATION –

Requires education or experience in legal research and/or law library procedures; two years of experience in secretarial and/or clerical duties, preferably in a law office or court. Must be proficient in use of Adobe Acrobat and MS Office, including basic knowledge of Excel.
