Kevin O’ Keefe Isn’t Having Much Fun At ALM’s Legaltech Show Now Called Legal Week

Is it a piss up in brewery, we don’t know but Mr O’ Keefe of Lexblog is not having the best week

Yesterday in an Article for Above the Law he wrote

Legaltech Exhibitors Are Clueless When It Comes To Marketing

The wild thing is that the founders and executives of these tech companies don’t have a clue when it comes to using technology and the internet to market and sell.

Rather than take responsibility for learning how to use the internet for relationship building, marketing and selling, the executives hire public relations and marketing professionals to do the job for their company. Crazier yet is that those they hire usually don’t know what they are doing either.

But that’s not all. This morning on his own network he’s got another gripe and fair enough when you see the numbers!

Paying to speak at ALM’s LegalTech Show is a nonstarter

That may be standard practice for some conferences. In fact, we were told the $7,500 fee we would pay to have me moderate along with related fanfare that would reach about one hundred people was less than other shows charge

ALM, if it wants its show to continue, should look for ways to up its game on educational sessions. It would’t be hard. Otherwise people and organizations will put on their own off site sessions in venues across the street from the Hilton.

And on that last para we fully agree. HOB lives on a shoestring we can never afford to go to these things although we know we have information and a product that should interest many content types.

So we say three cheers for Kevin and we hope that on his return to the west coast he can put it all behind him.

And by the way, we thought Legal Week was a UK legal magazine. But then again what would us little people know.
