Enock Aura has accused Chief Justice and President of the Supreme Court Martha Koome of failing to publish law reports and court notices in Kiswahili
He argued that the Constitution of Kenya recognises Kiswahili as and English as official languages thus High Court needs to use the two languages in publishing notices and reports
The businessman further accused Koome of allowing court proceedings to proceed online despite the COVID-19 pandemic having ended thus spending more to access public services
He accused the CJ of flouting the law by publishing new directives that maintained a mongrel court system of physical and virtual sessions
Enock Aura through lawyer Harrison Kinyanjui has given the CJ Seven days to annul the Practice Directions on standardization of Practice and Procedures in the High Court 2021 which was launched early this year. In the demand letter which was drafted in Kiswahili, Kinyanjui accused the CJ of failing to consult Kenyans from all walks of life and in a transparent manner before issuing the new Court rules.
