Jury Awards $3.4 Million to Woman Struck by Defective Door at Atlantic City Casino

A jury in Hudson County awarded $3.4 million on Monday to a woman who suffered serious injuries when she was struck by a door at the Tropicana Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The jury returned its verdict following a four-day trial before Superior Court Judge Jane Weiner.

The Tropicana lawyer, Damian Jackson of Reilly, McDevitt & Henrich in Philadelphia, maintained at trial that his client was not liable for the malfunctioning door because it had no notice, and because the casino is such a large building with numerous doors, plaintiff’s counsel said.
