Good thing too…
A judge has told a Victorian man jailed for encouraging attendance at a Sydney anti-lockdown rally his actions were “stupid”, “irrational” and dangerous, dismissing his appeal.
Key points:
- Khallouf was last month sentenced to eight months’ jail for charges including making false representations to police.
- He must serve his minimum jail term of three months
- Khallouf posted videos of himself on social media flouting health restrictions
Unemployed personal trainer Anthony Khallouf pleaded guilty to a string of charges including breaches of public health orders and making false representations to police.
The 29-year-old travelled from Queensland to Sydney before last month’s planned rally and stayed in a North Sydney hotel.
Days before the planned gathering, he uploaded a social media video jokingly conceding the potential “super spreader” event was cancelled, before declaring “nah f*** that shit, I’ll see you guys this Saturday”.
In a separate Instagram video with a black screen, Khallouf said his life was “under imminent threat” and urged followers to call NSW Police.
