Jack Daniel’s Properties Inc. claimed in California federal court that the King’s Creek whiskey brand sold by a smaller distiller infringed the Tennessee company’s trademarks and trade dress.
United States Distilled Products Co., which makes the King’s Creek whiskey, designed a new label for its bottles that copies many of the elements of Jack Daniel’s label—including a black background with white lettering, the complaint said.
The King’s Creek lettering is displayed in tall, arched font and uses circular design elements, which are trade dress elements used in Jack Daniel’s label, according to the complaint filed in the US District Court …
