Pre-Christmas excitement is heating up as the large publishers start their wind up to the end of the year and preparing us for 2010.
Our favourite report has to be? Kevin O?Keefe?s report that MH are to raise their listing prices as of January by 1,200%. This prompted a reply by Kathleen Delaney on the MH blog that explains in a very convoluted way that O?Keefe and other bloggers..ourselves included have got the wrong end of the stick. See our piece and her post in the LLN news section and if you understand what she?s on about please do explain it to us!
Last week LLN spoke to former European MH employee Eric Eck the founder of new service and online community Lexwiser (see story in the LLN news section). He has a healthy attitude towards his former employees and intends to create a community that quietly and efficiently puts lawyers in direct contact with in house counsel, as well as provide a community for legal students and graduates. And .. subsequently provide content for all these individuals / organisations to work and communicate with one another. The official launch comes soon and they?ll be providing a lot more information than we currently can. Eck has big plans for his service and we wish him the best of luck.

Online Legal Services: a Revolution that Failed? In which she writes ?In the late 1990s a number of law firms and other organisations began to market online products which “package” legal knowledge. Unlike spreadsheets, word processing software and e-mail, these products are not designed to provide efficiency improvements.

I know there?s been a lot of development in London, but doctors don?t have golf shops or virtual driving ranges on Harley Street, and Grey?s Inn isn?t a warren of tanning salons for barristers, so why has a banking district been tarted-up like a Dubai shopping mall for the amusement of its workers? It isn?t seemly and it makes for shoddy work habits. But it?s a good reflection of one fundamental change that began in the late 1990s, the one basic factor that?s fostered the deplorable lack of professionalism that suddenly became the hallmark of Finance. It?s cultivated carelessness and self-delusion, and bred the subprime incubus, the credit crunch, and the clusterbomb of ensuing problems.
