The launch of what is being described as a new “festival of legal ideas” will take place later this week in Dublin.
The Wild Atlantic Law festival will take place at the Falls Hotel, Ennistymon, Co Clare, on 1-2 May 2024.
The organisers say that the event is inspired by the example of the Burren Law School, which ran for 25 years at the Burren College of Art in Ballyvaughan.
The launch event will be held on Thursday 26 October (5.30pm) at Hyde Dublin, Lemon Street, Dublin.
Speakers and tickets
Guest speakers at the launch include the former chief justice and President of the Law Reform Commission Frank Clarke. He will speak about champerty, the third-party funding of litigation.
Other speakers are:
- Dr Alastair Moore, a leading UK expert on artificial intelligence in legal technology,
- Brenda McVeigh (head of the Department of Finance’s Anti-Money Laundering and Sanctions Unit),
- Dr Helen Taylor (Spotlight on Corruption).
The new festival is being run by Naoise Nunn, the director of Kilkenomics and founder of MindField at Electric Picnic. The other co-founders are Mark Totteham BL and Enda Leahy, the CEO of legal-technology company Courtsdesk.
