A dedicated group of lawyers in Iran came together today to protest recent judicial reforms that further diminish the ability of human rights lawyers to provide due process to defendants, including activists, dissidents, journalists, and artists targeted by the state in politically motivated cases. Their signs spoke volumes:
“Lawyers’ independence safeguards the defense of people’s rights”
“Without independent lawyers, defendants are left defenseless”
