Iran: Lawyer Seyed Mohammadreza Razavifard sentenced to 10 years in prison

Seyed Mohammadreza Razavifard, a lawyer based in Qom, has been sentenced by the Iranian judiciary to 10 years in prison. Following his formal appeal, the case has been referred to the appellate court.

According to a report received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Branch One of the Revolutionary Court of Qom sentenced Razavifard to 10 years of discretionary imprisonment on security-related charges. Razavifard confirmed the verdict on his Instagram account.

Informed sources stated that the court convicted the lawyer and legal expert of “propaganda activity against the national security of the country” under Article 4 of the Law on Intensifying Punishment for Crimes Against National Security and sentenced him to 10 years in prison.

The hearing was held before Branch One of the Revolutionary Court of Qom on May 26, 2026. Following the issuance of the initial verdict, Razavifard formally appealed the ruling. The case will now be reviewed by the Appellate Court of Qom Province.
