July 15, 2022 – Stanford Law School (SLS) today announced that evelyn douek will join its faculty as an Assistant Professor of Law. Douek is also a Senior Research Fellow at the Knight First Amendment Institute at Columbia University and an affiliate at the Berkman Klein Center For Internet & Society. She holds a doctorate from Harvard Law School on the topic of private and public regulation of online speech and has expertise in global regulation of online speech, private content moderation institutional design and comparative free speech law and theory.

I can’t wait to dive in and get to know the university community, including my new colleagues at the Stanford Cyber Policy Center, an interdisciplinary tech powerhouse that truly demonstrates Stanford’s competitive advantage in my field.”

Douek’s research has appeared or is forthcoming in the Harvard Law Review, Columbia Law Review, the University of Chicago Law Review Online, Lawfare, The Atlantic, WIRED, Slate, and a number of other publications.
Prior to attending Harvard Law School, douek was an associate (clerk) to the Honourable Chief Justice Susan Kiefel of the High Court of Australia. She also worked in commercial litigation at Herbert Smith Freehills and Corrs Chambers Westgarth in Sydney. Douek graduated with First Class Honours from the University of New South Wales (UNSW) with a Bachelor of Commerce/Laws in 2013, where she was the executive editor of the UNSW Law Journal and the undergraduate student representative on UNSW Council, the university’s governing body.
