The Role

We are currently seeking an Information Services Librarian to join our Library team, working four days per week (Monday to Thursday). Responsibilities will include, but not limited to:

  • Contribute to the maintenance, development and administration of the library collection;
  • Identify, develop and implement new or improved library alerting services and programs that meet business objectives and address client ongoing information needs;
  • Initiate client engagement to maximise their access to library resources, information and monitoring services;
  • Support the Library Manager in the development, preparation and delivery of library training programs that are responsive to the business’ needs;
  • Support the Systems Librarian during periods of platform upgrades and systems testing including collating and providing feedback on user experience and technical environment issues to publishers;
  • Participate in the weekly reference and research roster by providing information, material and research to clients from a range of sources to meet the clients brief; and
  • Ensure clients are provided with a positive, proactive and responsive customer service experience.

Experience

The successful candidate will have prior experience working in a library setting, along with a degree or diploma qualification in a recognised library or information studies related discipline. This role would suit a recent graduate (completed in the last three years), or a candidate due to graduate within the next three months.

You must also demonstrate the following:

  • Eligibility for Associate membership of the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA);
  • Experience in using online information resources and computer skills, and ability to learn new and emerging technologies;
  • Strong client focus and an ability to work to a high standard in a fast-paced service delivery environment;
  • Ability to liaise effectively and build and maintain strong working relationships with a wide range of internal and external clients;
  • Ability to meet work objectives and standards; completing tasks accurately and in a timely way to agreed priorities; responding in a positive manner to change;
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to work flexibly and effectively, both as a team member and independently with limited supervision; and
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills including strong presentation skills.

Desirable:

  • Prior experience working in a law library whether in a commercial firm, private practice, Court, Parliamentary or other legal services setting would be favourable.
