A leading specialist law firm requires an Information officer to support and assist the Information Services team in providing research services and information to clients, internal attorneys, and other colleagues across the business. Main responsibilities include:
- Operation and development of in-house and client-facing legal, business, sector, and industry current awareness services
- Assisting in the provision of the firm-wide research service (legal, business and IP research)
- Production of the weekly newsletter
- Management of print subscriptions and acquisitions for office libraries and graduate trainees
- Management of the library catalogue and assisting with the development of a new OPAC
- Providing assistance and support to the Information Services Manager in the management, promotion, and technical support of online resources to fee-earners
- Assisting in the provision of in-house inductions and training to new starters
- Maintaining the team’s internal pages on the intranet
To be considered for this role you will need the following skills and experience:
- Educated to degree level
- CILIP recognised qualification
- 2-3+ years’ experience working in a legal library and information unit
- Experience operating current awareness research services
- Strong legal research skills, including in the use of leading legal online resources
- Knowledge of Westlaw, Nexis, and Signal Media would be advantageous, but not essential
- Ability to pick-up new concepts quickly
- Demonstrable problem solving skills
- Good relationship building skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively at all levels
- Excellent attention to detail, with a calm and methodical approach
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Ability to act in a confidential and professional manner
