Librarian /Information Manager – South West, United Kingdom

Just in! A global managed service provider is seeking an Information Manager to support their client, a leading global law firm.  This varied role offers a wide range of activities including, leading delivery and client account management, answering higher level legal research requests, the provision of regular current awareness and know how to clients, training for clients on maximizing their information resources, and financial reporting and budget management.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Legal and business research using commercial online sources, as well as the internet and some hard copy resources
  • Provision of regular current awareness bulletins/alerts
  • Management of information systems
  • Provision of training to clients on their information resources
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with market data providers and information vendors
  • Providing expertise and support on the review/negotiation of renewals for larger electronic resources
  • Oversee the activities of other members of the Information Team
  • Actively promoting the service to end users
  • Pro-active management overall Information Service budget
  • Identifying and piloting new databases or tools
  • Supporting the delivery of projects promoting a culture of continuous improvement

To be considered for this role you will need the following skills and experience:

  • An information related qualification or equivalent professional experience
  • 5+ years’ experience in an Information Service, preferably in a legal environment
  • Ability to engage and effectively communicate with senior stakeholders
  • Experience in undertaking higher level legal research and/or answering enquiries
  • Extensive knowledge of key information and research databases
  • Effective line manager and role model as Team Leader
  • Organised and methodical
  • Problem solving, Interpersonal skills, and flexibility
