We learn from UK? LIS LAW that Informa have recently consolidated their publications….
Trademark World, Patent World, Copyright World, IP Decisions, IP Newsletter and IT Law Today into a single journal.
And yes there’s a huge but ………according to a posting law librarian; who says via a post on the list,? that Informa? are refusing to give refunds to the firm? on “unused parts of the subscriptions,even if you previously subscribed to more than one of these titles.”
Another librarian responded to the post by saying that Informa “did the same with Compliance Monitor last year. We cancelled our subscription and frankly, I try to promote alternatives to their titles whenever possible.”
And it looks as though Informa have taken a page out of their competitors book as well .. the responding librarian adds….. ” is it me or do other people get really annoyed too when they (Infoma) go for one of their fishing expeditions and send you marketing material that looks furiously like a subscription renewal. You have to be really alert and it means so much time is wasted just checking these things out! All I’ll say is that they know why they’re the only major legal publisher not to sign up to the BIALL Code of Conduct!
Looks as though Informa’s sales and marketing managers need to get together and work on a bit of customer service fairly soon
