The Asian Legal Information Institute (AsianLII – http://www.asianlii.org) provides free access legal resources from 28 countries across Asia. AsianLII receives funding from the AusAID Public Sector Linkages Programme (PSLP), the Australian Attorney-General’s Department, from UNSW international development grants, and infrastructure support from UTS and UNSW. Participants in the Conference are supported by the Danish International Development Agency (DANIDA), Indonesia-Australia Legal Development Facility (IALDF), and UNSW.

Conference scope and aims

The Conference entitled ‘Building capacity for free access to law in Asia’ will bring together free access to law providers with users of legal information (lawyers, business, academics, government officials etc), technical experts and representatives of funding organisations. The Conference will focus on increasing the capacity of local organisations (particularly universities, NGOs and government agencies) in Asian countries to deliver free access to legal information in a sustainable way, and on the wealth of resources already available.
