Ian Murray appointed as Australian Lawyers Alliance’s national president

The Australian Lawyers Alliance (ALA) has announced the appointment of its new national president, Ian Murray, who previously served as state president of the not-for-profit member organisation’s West Australian branch.

“Common law rights are precious, and they can be legislated away far too quickly,” Murray said in the ALA’s media release. “In my time as President of the ALA, I hope to work towards building a better understanding of the value of common law rights and keep our focus on making sure we retain these rights across Australia.”

A legal practitioner since 2005, Murray earned his legal qualifications and initially practised in the UK. Since then, he has worked in Australia for over a decade. Last January, he and his family moved to Newcastle, New South Wales, from Perth, Western Australia.

Murray is a partner at the Law Office of Conrad Curry and its medical negligence practice lead. According to his biography on the firm’s website, he handles personal injury matters as well as medical negligence cases, focusing on the plaintiff’s side.
