HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — For 34 years, The Golden Egg Pancake House in Surfside Beach has been dishing out breakfast bowls, omelets and other staples from its distinctive building off Highway 17 North.
On Friday, attorneys for the restaurant filed a trademark infringement suit in U.S. District Court’s Florence division against Golden Eggs Brunchery on S. Kings Highway in Myrtle Beach less than a month after sending a cease and desist letter.
Golden Egg owner Evan Bofilio told News13 this month he found out about the restaurant from friends who asked him about it.
“I had a couple of friends text me saying, ‘Hey, did you open a new place,?’ and I said, ‘No, I don’t know what you’re talking about,’” Bofilio said. “After my friends told me, I wanted to see it for myself, so I drove by and took a picture of it, then I sent it to my lawyer who did my trademark.”
