Hong Kong police fine 3 pro-Ukraine protesters under Covid rules, following Zelensky’s call for global demos

Three people were fined by Hong Kong police at a pro-Ukraine demonstration in Central on Thursday evening.

A Police Public Relations Branch officer said three people were handed HK$5,000 fines for allegedly gathering in groups larger than two on Thursday evening. Separately, a 32-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman were arrested for failing to present their identity documents. Both were Ukrainian, police said.

On Twitter, a photo and a video showed two people – both with a Ukrainian flag draped around them – being questioned by officers on Queen’s Road Central before being escorted into a police van.
