  • He was released last August with a national security charge laid against him while behind bars for unlawful assembly

Hong Kong national security police have arrested former opposition lawmaker Albert Ho Chun-yan on suspicion of perverting the course of justice while out on bail, the Post has learned.

Ho, 71, was accused of interfering with family members of some suspects detained in connection with the city’s largest national security case, a source said on Tuesday.

The case involved 47 opposition figures who were charged with subversion in connection with their roles in an unofficial Legislative Council primary election in 2020. The trial against 16 of them is being held at West Kowloon Court.

The remaining 31 defendants have either pleaded guilty or told the court they will do so when their pleas are formally taken.
