I know sometimes it feels like we pick on LN but we wonder why in times of recession that they feel the need to sponsor golf tournaments instead of channel that money back into staff.
?
?
As you know we reported this week that we’d been told that LN (UK) offices are currently being looked at by “consultants” who we gather are looking at ways to cut costs.. shorthand for making people redundant.
Meanwhile a world away in Maine we spotted this little thankyou note in publication? Seacoastonline.com from a Tracey Tucker
New Heights director who writes to the paper to say…:
On behalf of everyone at New Heights, I want to express my deep appreciation to everyone who supported our fourth annual Swing by the Sea Golf Tournament.
I’d like to thank our longtime tournament sponsor, Ocean Properties, for their continued support of our tournament and, of course, our celebrity host, Dwight Davis, who works with us tirelessly throughout the year in support of our program.
To our many other returning major sponsors, Nitro Security, Portsmouth Chevrolet, SmartWool, Moe’s Italian Sandwiches, Addiction Recovery Services, Henry M. Frechette Fund, Global Partners, Exeter Health Resources and Thursdays with Jerry, your support means so much to us.
We also welcomed a great deal of new sponsors, including Lexis Nexis and NuSkye Ventures, Choate Hall and Stewart, Ohio Steel Sheet and Plate, and Piscataqua Savings Bank.
We’re not saying there’s anything wrong in sponsoring a golf tournament.. but this year? And note it’s not a repeat sponsorship it’s actually new money out of the budget.
There’s marketing and marketing… this is the sort of thing that should be taken from the marketing budget and ploughed into some of the more pressing budget lines.
That’s our nitpick for the day.
