Head of Research and Instructional Sevices University of Alabama School of Law – Tuscaloosa, AL

The University of Alabama School of Law’s Bounds Law Library seeks collaborative, dynamic, and service-orientated candidates for the Head of Research and Instructional Services librarian position. Reporting to the Associate Dean for Legal Information Services, the successful candidate will be instrumental in coordinating and expanding the law library’s research and instructional service initiatives.

Responsibilities will include promptly responding to faculty research requests, coordinating and managing complex research projects, supervision of one professional reference librarian, and participating in and managing the library’s reference rotation schedule. This position will be an active participant and take a lead role in the law library’s instructional initiatives, including creating and maintaining content for the first-year legal research program, coordinating the creation and maintenance of online research guides and tutorials, and proposing and participating in formal and informal instructional opportunities. This position will also work collaboratively with the Associate Dean and others to recommend and establish library policies and services, participate in collection development, and other duties and tasks essential to the law library’s mission.
