A leading, prestigious law firm requires a Head of Knowledge Management to have overall responsibility for setting, maintaining, and evaluating the firm’s strategies in Knowledge Management and ensuring the successful implementation, in line with the firm’s business strategy and objectives. Open to talking flexibly. This role is suitable for individuals looking to work 0.6 to 0.8 FTE and will require the successful candidate to work on Tuesdays. Flexible working patterns will be considered within the firm’s agile working framework.
Responsibilities Include:
- Set and deliver the Knowledge Management element of the firm’s Knowledge, Learning, and Development strategy
- Champion the cause of Knowledge Management across the firm
- Design and lead centralised Knowledge Management projects for increased client service, financial efficiency, and profitability
- Ensure Knowledge Management is given appropriate consideration in Practice Area, Departmental and Business Services strategies
- Organise and lead the firm’s Knowledge Community including chairing the regular Knowledge Forum meetings
- Provide direction and support to the firm’s Knowledge Community in their delivery of decentralised Knowledge Management
- Assist with preparation and delivery of Knowledge Lawyer appraisals and consider their career development
- Work with Knowledge Partners to encourage the most productive use of Knowledge Lawyers
- Work with the L&D side of the team to provide direction and support to the Knowledge Community and other stakeholders in the delivery of decentralised Learning and Development
- Design and deliver centralised technical legal training
- Collate and oversee the team training budgets in conjunction with the Knowledge Community
- Set and deliver the Library element of the strategy, ensuring the best possible service is provided to all members of the firm
- Manage the firm’s Library team
- Develop the skills and knowledge of all members of the firm in commercial and legal research techniques
- Prepare and manage the firm’s Research budget
- Manage the firm’s relationship with information service providers, ensuring the best possible value for the firm
- Be knowledgeable of trends and developments in legal technology
- Work with IT to explore and champion the use of appropriate legal technology at the firm
- Lead and/or collaborate on legal technology projects to facilitate the adoption of appropriate legal technology by the firm/practice areas
- Manage the firm’s Knowledge Management system and ensure fitness for purpose/explore alternatives
- Work with the Marketing and BD team and the Knowledge Community to shape the firm’s client facing knowledge offering
- Promote and take part in Matter debriefs
To be considered for this role you will need the following skills and experience:

- Current awareness of Knowledge Management issues in wider professional services market

- Experience of leading change management initiatives
- Strong project management and organisational skills
- Proactive client service approach
- Professional services experience essential, preferably within a law firm
