Hammond Partners In HK Say No Way Jose To Squire Sanders

Roll on Friday is reporting that “Only a couple of weeks after announcing their merger, Hammonds and Squire Sanders have hit the first bump in the road. And it’s quite some bump as Hammonds’ entire Hong Kong office has decided that it wants no part in it.”

The six HK partners flicked a collective V at management last week by giving notice that they intended to split from the firm. They were snottily referred to by Hammonds as a “small handful [who] have taken the view that they do not want to be part of a fully integrated global firm”. Play nicely children.

The new firm Squire Sanders Hammonds (or just Squire Sanders, if reports are correct) is to be born on 1 January 2011. That is if there’s anything left to merge. As RollOnFriday reported back in August, Squires has 32 global offices compared to Hammonds’ ten. Now just nine. Could it be eight or seven next? Click here to share.
