US firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP announced this week that James Yong Wang has joined it s New York office as a shareholder in the Corporate and Securities practice and the Asia practice group.
We learn from the press release that Wang will focus on expanding Greenberg Traurig’s private investment funds practice with a particular focus on China and elsewhere in Asia. They write: He has extensive experience in the structuring of U.S. and international private equity, venture capital, real estate and mezzanine funds and fund-of-funds as well as general corporate matters.
"James is a valuable and unique addition to the firm. There are few lawyers anywhere who are truly bilingual and bicultural while also having his deep knowledge of U.S. and international private investment funds and broad legal experience in the U.S. and Asia. He will no doubt tremendously benefit our clients doing business globally," said Richard A. Rosenbaum, President of Greenberg Traurig. "James will be based in our New York office and will be working closely with attorneys throughout the firm, particularly in Shanghai and Tokyo, to enhance and support our clients in this actively growing business arena."
Greenberg Traurig announced last week the restructuring of its Tokyo office so it is better positioned for long-term, independent growth and the addition of Go Hashimoto and his corporate practice. Hashimoto joined from Bingham McCutchen. The firm’s Shanghai office, founded this year, has grown from one to twelve legal professionals.
Greenberg Traurig’s Asia practice group serves the needs of the firm’s U.S., Chinese, Japanese, Indian, Korean and other international clients to conduct transactions both inbound to and outbound from Asia. The firm advises its international client base on all aspects of law and other business dealings in the United States and abroad.
