Gray’s Inn Library London – Vacancy

This would be an excellent opportunity for someone already working in a library but wishing to work some extra hours or gain experience in a different type of library.  You would be assisting barristers and students, handling enquiries and carrying out library housekeeping tasks in an attractive and historic setting.

Gray’s Inn Library is run by a small friendly team and most of our current Evening Assistants have chosen to continue working with us over many years.

We are looking for a new Evening Assistant to help cover our weekday evening shifts from 17.00 – 20.00.  Currently we have a vacancy on Thursday evenings, so ideally need someone who is available at this time.  We also open on one Saturday a month during legal terms in rotation with the other Inn libraries, so there would be an opportunity to work some Saturdays from 10.00 – 17.00.  Additionally, from time to time you may be asked if you are interested in working extra hours to cover absences or holidays.

(Please note that evening shifts do not usually run outside legal terms or from August to mid-September.)

Previous experience of working in a law library would be helpful but is by no means essential.  Experience of working in any kind of library is highly desirable.

Employment would be on a casual basis, with a competitive hourly rate of pay.  If you are interested, please send your CV and covering letter to: recruitment@graysinn.org.uk.  The closing date for applications is Friday 1 February.
